What Do Volunteers Do? There are 100 volunteer shifts every week - MONDAY through SATURDAY! In the KITCHEN Volunteers assist in the preparation of hot meals in our fun, fabulous kitchen. The Morning shift (9:30 am to 12:30pm) involves chopping, dicing, mixing and general food prep, while the Afternoon shift (1:30 to 4:00 pm) is packing, cleaning and scrubbing. Click here for more details (our volunteer handbook - in PDF format). DELIVERING MEALS Volunteers deliver meals each afternoon between 2:45 and 6:00 pm by foot, by bike (we have bikes, helmets and locks you can use!) or by car. Deliveries are a great way to explore the city and meet people. Click here for more details (Volunteer handbook PDF). The shifts described above are the standard volunteer shifts, but volunteers help out in so many other ways - gardening, bike repair, administration, event coordination, transportation, design, etc. Do you have any special skills or interests that you think would benefit Santropol Roulant? We always need volunteers to help with special events, fundraisers, intergenerational get-togethers...let us know your ideas! How do I volunteer? We have a 1-hour volunteer orientation session every other Saturday and the occasional session on weekday evenings. Sessions are held at Santropol Roulant (111 Roy east at the corner of Colonial) from 11am - noon. Simply drop by or call us to sign up for the next orientation session. See you there!
The next orientation sessions will be: Thursday February 16th from 6-7:30 pm Saturday March 3rd, from 11 am to 12:30pm
