La Frip Roulante
HISTORY In early 2005, as a volunteer, Emma helped to set up a "Friperie" in the basement of Santropol Roulant. Every September we hold an annual street bazaar to raise funds. The idea for the Friperie would be to start collecting donated goods earlier in the year and come up with a creative way to recycle items that we had left over from the previous year's sale. It was also a great way to make use of the downstairs space! During the winter months, a few other volunteers cleared out and turned the basement into a cozy space, where people could find new clothes, pick up something to read, listen to music or have fun dressing up with friends. In the spring we opened to the public every Saturday afternoon and over the following five months raised $3,000. This project came to life through the commitment of great volunteers who helped to sort, organize and arrange donated items as well as give their time to be present in the space while we were open.
