Summer Bike Workshop Coordinator

Santropol Roulant is seeking a motivated and energetic student to join our team as the summer Bike Workshop Coordinator.

The Bike Workshop Coordinator will work alongside the Sustainability Coordinator and the Meals-on-Wheels (MOW) team to plan and coordinate the 2009 bike shop season.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating weekly volunteer shifts in the bike workshop where community members can come to learn how to repair their bikes.
  • Support the meal deliveries though care and maintenance of Santropol Roulant’s bike fleet.
  • Encourage sustainable transportation within the Santropol Roulant community through practical workshops in bike repair and maintenance.
  • Organize summer activities/fundraisers for the shop (ie: bike tune up days).
  • Being present in the day-to-day operations of Santropol Roulant (SR) and working with the team at SR to ensure that all our volunteers, clients and community members feel connected and happy with our work. 

We are looking for candidates with the following interests, skills and experience: 

  • Bike maintenance skills and experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • An interest in working with a team.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong communication skills in English and French.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a love for building meaningful relationships.
  • Organized, dynamic and creative, with a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Experience organizing events is an asset.

The position is a Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) contract. To be eligible you must be a full time student this year and be back to school in September 2009 and aged between 15 and 30 years old. You must also be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.  The contract will begin mid-May and will end at the end of August with a 35hrs/week Tuesday-Saturday schedule. This position is conditional to our receiving government financing.
