Group Volunteering at Santropol Roulant
As a volunteer driven organization, Santropol Roulant is constantly welcoming new volunteers into its community. Every volunteer is a gift to our community with something unique to offer. We do our best to provide fun and enriching volunteer experiences that will harvest the talents and skills that our volunteers have to share.
We regularly receive requests from individuals and organizations wanting to volunteer as a group. These are always exciting opportunities for us because the “group” experience offers a different energy to the daily operation of Santropol Roulant.
The many advantages that come with a large number of volunteers willing to get involved as a group also presents a few challenges, such as limited kitchen space, that need to be addressed in order for the volunteer experience to be enriching and rewarding for the community as a whole. Consequently, it’s important to contact the volunteer coordinator as soon as you know you want to volunteer as a group so you can figure out together what is the best option for all.
The Santropol Roulant volunteer program is a self-managed system where volunteers decide when and how they want to get involved. As a result, a volunteer can be signed-up for a shift tomorrow, 3 shifts next week and another one in 3 weeks. Thus, even though there are some volunteers that prefer to plan their involvement on a fixed schedule, no day is ever the same at Santropol Roulant. Rarely can we predict who or how many individuals will be getting in on the fun of our meals-on-wheels at any given time.
When a group (4 +) of people want to get involved together, whether it be for a team building experience or simply to be with friends or family while contributing in a positive and concrete way to the community, it should still allow existing volunteers to sign-up for various shifts as they usually would.
Again, we do our best to make your Santropol Roulant experience a memorable one, so don’t hesitate to contact us with the ideas you have for your group!
